The Time Travelers Car Club of Airdrie is getting ready to show off members' classic cars at their annual Airdrie Summer Classic Charity Car Show, Saturday, August 10, at Nose Creek Park.

Last year's Summer Classic raised $14,000 for local charities as over 5000 people made their way to Nose Creek Park. Organizers are hopeful this year they'll be able to better that total. They have picked the charities the event will benefit this year:  The Airdrie Food Bank, Boys and Girls Club of Airdrie, Airdrie Hospice Society, Tails to Tell Animal Rescue, and IronHorse Park.

All proceeds from the 50/50 draw will go to flood relief in High River. As in previous years, spectators get in by bringing a non-perishable food item for the Airdrie Food Bank. If you want to enter a vehicle, the cost to register is $10.

Susan Urquhart is the media coordinator for the Summer Classic. She says the show is in its thirteen year, and they always get a great turnout.

Exhibitors travel to the show from as far away as Central B.C., northern Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Cars of every vintage are welcome in the show - in the past they've had cars from the early 1900s all the way up to brand new. Urquhart says there is one simple criteria.

Over the last couple of years, organizers opened the show up to include motorcycles and last year over 40 entered.

Kids and the young at heart will find much to do at the Summer Classic, aside from just looking at and admiring the vehicles.
