The CRTC announced a new list of best practices for cable companies on November 22.

To ensure TV providers are following these best practices, CRTC also announced they will only renew licenses for one year as opposed to the usual seven years.

We took to the streets of Airdrie and asked a handful of residents if they were sticking with their cable subscriptions, or if they were "cutting the cord" and opting out in favour of Internet streaming services such as Netflix.

The residents we talked to were split.

"I like to be able to pick what I want to see," said one cord-cutter. Another indicated that he preferred streaming because the cost of cable is too high.

Some residents preferred to stick with their cable subscriptions. "I'm a cable type of person," said one of the cable faithful, "It's easier for me. I'm not a computer person."
