The Second Airdrie Scouts were shocked to find the sheds in which they store their donated bottles had been broken into Thursday, August 4th.

As they enjoy their summer holidays, there has been little activity at the scout hall, leaving their facilities vulnerable to crime.

"Both locks had been busted off the doors and we opened up the doors and found that a substantial amount of bottles had been taken from the sheds," said Leslie Pepper, Group Commissioner of the Second Airdrie Scouts.

Although the shed was not emptied, it is estimated that approximately $1,000 in bottles were taken.

The bottles had been donated to the Scouts by members of the community, going towards day-to-day operations.

Due to the fact that none of the registration money from Scouts stays in Airdrie, all expenses are paid for by fundraising.

"We're reinforcing the doors, we're looking at putting some sensors into the garages, just to help deter it a little bit," said Pepper.
