It's an ongoing struggle for a local club and they hope to find some relief in the near future.

Alexx Diepe who coaches with the Nose Creek Swim Association says the club is in need of more space.

"Because of the lack of pool space...some kids are forced to travel all the way to Calgary to swim and because we don't have the space there are certain things we can't provide to our community and our kids."

One of the reasons that Diepe says more space is needed is so more young people can compete, especially girls.

"We quite often talk about girls who suffer from self esteem, body image, that sort of stuff. As a society we have to create more opportunities for these girls to develop skills and strengthen their self esteem so that those issues are non issues."

Diepe is hoping to continue the conversation for more pool space but would love to see more physical action taken in the near future.
