A group of Fortis Alberta employees huddled inside one of the new Habitat for Humanity homes in Kings Heights early Thursday (September 29) morning.

It was an exciting day for the group who presented a cheque for $10,000 to the project, but also got to get their hands dirty putting it to good use.

"One of our VP's at Fortis Alberta is very passionate about Habitat for Humanity," said Debbie Bowering, Communications Advisor. "We got a request from Habitat probably a few weeks after I learned that, so we wanted to become involved."

The group of Fortis employees donned their PPE while getting a safety briefing that would prepare them for the days activities.

"The home that they are working on today is near completion, my understanding is that they will be doing a lot of the little finishing projects that are required," said Bowering.

There a total of 6 homes that are being built in Kings Heights, with 3 homes now occupied by the new home owners.
