Two Young Offenders have been charged.

On December 5th at approximately 2 a.m., Airdrie RCMP responded to a firearms complaint that came from the Prairie Springs area. Two males were involved in a dispute where one of them had what appeared to be a handgun. After police were called, he quickly left the scene but before departing, the male from the dispute smashed the back window of the vehicle he was in with a baton.

RCMP found both suspects and safely brought them into custody in a high risk arrest. The alleged firearm was not located at the time.

RCMP later obtained a warrant to search the home of the suspect and located a baton and a Smith and Wesson BB gun with copper pellets.

One male is charged with Mischief Under $5,000 and Failure to Comply with an Undertaking. The second male faces six offences including:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Weapons possession contrary to court order

The two males cannot be named as they are Young Offenders. They will appear in Airdrie Provincial Court.
