The Airdrie RCMP are hoping the public can help them identify the man responsible for the theft of gas from the Petro Canada on East Lake Crescent in Airdrie.

Constable Dan Martin explains what took place.

"On September 17th at 8:45 in the morning a male pulled up in a white Chrysler Aspen.  The plate was later determined to be stolen so it's believed that the vehicle is stolen as well.  He pulled up to the Petro Canada on East Lake Crescent and fuelled up with $92 worth of gas and left without paying."

The man is described as a caucasian and was wearing a ball cap, dark sunglasses and a two tone hoody.

Martin says they're looking for anyone who might know the man to come forward.  "We're just asking the public if they recognize the individual and if they do to contact the RCMP."

Constable Simon Desbiens is the officer to talk to at the Airdrie RCMP.  The number is 403 945-7200.  If you wish to remain anonymous you can always contact Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477.
