UPDATE: Airdrie RCMP have determined that the bomb threat made to W.H. Croxford High School Thursday afternoon was unfounded.

Mounties say they received word that a threat had been made at the school at approximately 3:37 p.m. on Thursday as the kids were leaving for spring break.

Corporal Gina Slaney says the building was evacuated while a search was conducted.

"These new schools are quite big and there are lots of places to search, but rest assured that we will do a thorough job to ensure that everybody will be safe upon their return to school," says Slaney.

There was a large police presence on Chinook Winds Drive in the area of the school while police determined the validity of the threat. Shortly after 6 p.m., RCMP say the scene was released after the threat was deemed to be unfounded.

Airdrie RCMP thank the public for their cooperation in this matter.
