Airdrie RCMP have arrested two people and charged them with numerous offences after incidents at the Wal-Mart store and in the Kingsway Market area of Airdrie.

On April 4th, just after 10:30 pm, RCMP received a complaint of a theft from the Airdrie Wal-Mart.  A male and female took two carts of unpaid merchandise from the store and loaded it into a stolen vehicle.  Wal-Mart staff approached them but they were able to get away with some of the stolen merchandise.

Then, yesterday (April 5) morning around 4:30, Airdrie RCMP received word of a truck being stolen from the Kingsview Market area.  RCMP members arrested a man who was trying to flee the scene on foot.  The woman got away in a vehicle.  She was arrested later after falling asleep in a parked, stolen vehicle, the same one that had been used in the Wal-Mart theft.

Police have charged 31 year old Anthony James Potts with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Comply With an Undertaking.  Potts also has numerous outstanding arrest warrants.

41 year old Diane Renee Fiddler has been charged with Flight From Police, Failure to Comply With a Recognizance, Theft of a Credit Card, Possession of Stolen Property and Driving an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.  She also has outstanding arrest warrants in her name.

The RCMP are thanking Airdrie citizens and Wal-Mart Loss Prevention Officers and staff for their assistance.
