A large police presence on Thorndale Close last night (May 4) drew some attention.

Around 10:15 last night, Calgary Police spotted a vehicle that had been stolen from Edmonton. CPS followed the vehicle from Calgary to Thorndale Close in Airdrie.

Airdrie RCMP were dispatched to assist, and called out occupants of a home in the area. Hawks helicopter was also in the area. Airdrie resident Dominique Kathrens was nearby.

"We basically heard a helicopter that sounded very close, but we couldn't actually see it. And we heard a cop over a microphone asking residents from [a house] to come out one at a time with their hands up."

Five people were taken into custody and turned over to CPS at 11:40pm. Only one person, 18 year old Nicklas Desbiens, was charged. Desbiens received one count of possession of stolen property.
