Airdrie RCMP were assisted by Police in B.C. to arrest a 26-year-old from Airdrie on firearms-related warrants.

Cst. Dan Martin explained the case started when police investigated a complaint over the weekend.

"Back on February 4, an Airdrie man pointed a firearm at a person in a residence here within Airdrie. The male then left the residence, came back a short time later and grabbed some more long-barreled rifles and fled once again."

Airdrie RCMP were called to investigate. When they arrived at the residence, officers found a hockey bag filled with imitation firearms, ammunition, holsters and a pistol magazine which they seized as part of the investigation.

Police then sought a public interest arrest warrant and tried to find the suspect in Airdrie but eventually determined he was no longer in town.

"Through some investigative techniques, they were able to locate the male in Burnaby, B.C. At that time, Burnaby RCMP were made aware of the file and they were able to locate the man in Burnaby."

Police in Burnaby took the man into custody without incident. Cst. Martin emphasized that the man was not considered a danger to the public.

"He was believed to not be of any public threat, this was kind of an isolated event. It's believed that the victim was known to the offender. Cody Theodore Fowlie has been arrested and charged with numerous firearm-related offences."

Fowlie has been charged with assault, careless use of a firearm, pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats. He remains in custody and is being transported to Airdrie to appear in court at a future date.
