An Airdrie man has been charged and arrested following a seizure at the border by members of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).

On July 10th, CBSA intercepted a package originating from Hong Kong.

The parcel was declared as flashlights but upon further investigation officers found energy weapons similar to Tasers.

The information was given to Airdrie's Crime Reduction Unit and a warrant was issued for the Airdrie man.

A search of a rural property near Airdrie turned up more weapons and evidence involving the investigation.

38- year old Jeffery Gordon Bussey has been charged with seven criminal offences and will appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on August 16th.

The RCMP point out the seizure is an example of how they're working to prevent people from bringing in illegal weapons.

Sergeant Andrew Boxall of the Airdrie Crime Reduction Unit says, "The RCMP and CBSA will not allow that to happen.  Our focus in CRU is to proactively target drug, property and weapons crime.  If you choose to commit those crimes in Airdrie or Rocky View County, you can expect that you will attract the attention of the Crime Reduction Unit."
