Airdrie Employment Services held their annual Fall Job Fair on Wednesday, October 19th, with 23 employers in attendance.

Doors opened at 11 a.m. at the Rocky View Education Centre with 300 people filing in with resumes, hoping to find a job.

Abigail Gonzalez-Kube, Program Manager for Rocky View Employment Services said the numbers were down slightly from their Spring Job Fair but it was still a good turn out.

"We had 420 in the spring and 300 right now so a little bit lower. I'm not sure why, maybe that's a good sign, more Albertans being attached to the workforce."

Gonzalez-Kube said that the numbers are much higher than in past years when the largest crowd was approximately 60 people.

All the employers at the job fair had to be actively recruiting for roles in order to attend, giving candidates a higher likelihood of obtaining employment.

"We try to have from entry level, so for example Toys R' Us and Tim Horton's, to the more professional jobs as well, from Investors group, Compass Group, Rocky View Schools they were hiring, so yes it was a wide demographic. We had from teenagers to mature workers to new Canadians."

For anyone who was unable to attend the job fair, employment services are available all year round at the Airdrie Employment Services office located at #412, 121 Main St S .
