The Airdrie Food Bank has reached one of their slower times of the year in terms of donations.

With some of the shelves looking a little empty, the Airdrie Food Bank is looking for donations.

Jamie Gatner, warehouse coordinator at the food bank says that some of the items they are low on is baby formula, canned fruit, small fruit juice boxes, sugar and flour.

"This year we have been so fortunate, normally at this point in time our shelves are pretty bare, but we are so fortunate with the community that we have."

Within the next month or so, Gatner predicts that things will pick up and they will be busier again.

Flour and sugar are taken in large quantities and then repackaged so that they can be given out to more people.

There is a high need for the small fruit juice boxes as they are used for the food banks school programs, and it will be about a week until their orders start coming in.
