At 2:40p.m. on Tuesday, August 23, the Airdrie Fire Department responded to a call involving a single vehicle fire on Bay Springs Way SW.

Nine firefighters arrived on scene to a fully involved mid-size commercial van that had flames and smoke coming from the rear doors and windows.

The fire was quickly contained, but to ensure the fire was completely extinguished crews removed most of the interior contents of the van.

While cleaning the scene, firefighters used absorbent pads around nearby sewer drains to ensure that none of the contaminants would enter the waterway.

The roadway was closed for a short period of time while crews cleared the remnants of the vehicle and investigators looked into the cause of the fire.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
