Elyse King and her family suffered a terrible loss on Thursday, December 1.

Just before the holidays, their beloved dog Panda had to be put down after what is believed to be a targeted poisoning.

"They took something from us that meant a lot, and they did something to me that they can never take back." said King.

Panda was believed to be suffering from kennel cough, but as his condition worsened, it was discovered that his lungs had filled with blood.

To make things worse, King said that their house was broken into the following day, leading her to believe the incidents are related.

"I moved to Airdrie cause this is a safe and tight community for me to raise my children in, and after something like this happening to one of our family members, it's heart wrenching."

King has reached out to RCMP who are investigating both incidents.
