More than 600 health facilities in 59 cities and towns across the province will be getting a boost with the Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP).

Of those 59 cities and towns, Airdrie's Urgent Care unit wasn't on the list.

Health Minister Sarah Hoffman announced that the Province has currently invested over $50 million in updates and maintenance projects to health facilities since the beginning of 2016.

Before the end of 2017, $131 million will be spent on projects that include water system repairs, heating system upgrades, and facility renovations.

“It’s been an extremely busy time for construction crews at health facilities large and small," said Hoffman, "Many of these projects aren’t fancy but they are necessary and have been put off far too long. These are upgrades that need to happen so we can continue to deliver safe, reliable and quality health care to Alberta patients and their families.”

All the approved projects are in various stages from design and procurement, to completion and testing.
