City council faces another busy agenda at its first meeting of May, with two items focusing on a pair of important building projects.

Council will be presented with a financing request for a new housing project by Airdrie Housing Limited and will be asked to forward a letter to the Provincial Affordable and Non-Profit Housing Division to request previously granted funds be redirected to the HomeStay project.

The other project on the agenda is the new Airdrie Library Multi-Use facility.  Michelle Lock, Airdrie's Director of Community Services, will present council with a draft Project Charter and Project Governance.

Sara Chamberlain, Team Leader for Airdrie Economic Development will talk about the vital role economic development has in community resiliency and recovery during the pandemic and request that council proclaims May 9th to 15th as Economic Development Week.

Council will also be asked to proclaim May 16th to 22nd as National Public Works Week. The week is meant to pay tribute to all public works professionals and their contribution to public safety.

The Federal Census begins Monday (May 3) and council will be provided with correspondence from Stats-Can about the census.

Council will also get an update on how Airdrie RCMP have been faring in the days of COVID-19 when their bi-annual report is presented.

Councillors will also be discussing the Temporary COVID-19 Face Coverings bylaw but there are no details from the agenda about what that discussion will involve

The council meeting takes place starting at 3:30 pm via Zoom.
