With the Provincial election campaign now officially in full swing, election signs have already started popping up.

In the riding of Airdrie-Cochrane, United Conservative Party Candidate Peter Guthrie said the election call doesn’t change too much for his campaign. He said his team has been out in the community talking with people and he intends to continue with that.

“It’s going to be a lot of door knocking and that’s what it’s been for the last couple months,” Guthrie explained.

Guthrie said people he’s talked to all have very similar concerns.

“The message is about jobs, the economy, pipelines, bureaucracy and red tape, and spending,” he said.

NDP Candidate Steve Durrell said he’s also knocking on doors talking with residents in the Airdrie-Cochrane riding.

“I think that Albertans are largely pleased with our current government, particularly people in Airdrie and Cochrane,”

Durrell highlighted some of the government projects and investments that have had a local impact.

“We’re opening the Airdrie Urgent Care Centre to be a 24 hour urgent care centre. Infrastructure upgrades to things like the Highway 22 and Highway 1A interchange in Cochrane that is slated to begin construction this winter.”

Guthrie and Durrell are also running against Matthew Morrisey with the new Freedom Conservative Party.

“I’m definitely excited to get out there and talk and listen to Albertans in the Airdrie-Cochrane riding,” said Morrisey.

The FCP candidate said he’s been doing a little bit of door-knocking.

“Just being able to live and work in the community, I get to hear all the concerns that Albertans are currently having,” said Morrisey.
