It was in place for 51 days, many of them smoky and choky and difficult to breathe through, but finally, it is over.

At long last, Alberta Health Services has lifted the precautionary air quality advisory that was put in place August 8th throughout Alberta.  Wildfires burning in a number of locations in Alberta, B.C. and other places, made for a smoke-filled summer.  On several days, the Air Quality Health Index rose to a 10 plus or the very high-risk range.

Now, AHS says that the wildfires which, at various times, impacted air quality in the province, are no longer a threat to air quality.

Though forecasting suggests that the improvement to air quality conditions will be sustained, Albertans are reminded that air quality can vary with weather conditions and prevailing winds at any time of year.
