Airdrie RCMP spent much of Saturday afternoon trying to take down three men who took them on two separate vehicle pursuits.

The first incident started around 1:50 pm when Airdrie RCMP were alerted by Sylvan Lake RCMP of a stolen vehicle headed in their direction.

The stolen vehicle was a 2015 Chevy Silverado and was located by Airdrie RCMP and Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit members within Airdrie city limits.  After trying to stop the vehicle, it continued south on Highway 2 toward Balzac.

Technology is a wonderful thing for police and Airdrie RCMP worked with OnStar's stolen vehicle assistance program and were able to safely disable the vehicle.

That didn't end the incident as the two occupants of the stolen vehicle fled on foot.  One of the men was quickly apprehended after a brief chase.

The RCMP Police Dog Sevice was contacted to help find the other suspect who was trying to hide.  Eventually, both men were arrested and charges are pending against them.

The excitement wasn't over though as at 4:25 pm Airdrie RCMP were alerted by Calgary Police of a vehicle headed toward Airdrie that wasn't stopping for police.

The vehicle's occupant had allegedly been involved in a stabbing in Calgary and attempts to stop the vehicle in that city were unsuccessful.

Airdrie RCMP along with the Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit, RCMP Police Dog Services, Calgary Police Service and the CPS Hawcs helicopter worked together and managed to deploy a spike belt that disabled the vehicle.

The man was arrested just south of Airdrie on Highway 2 and was taken into custody by Calgary Police.

Charges are also pending against him.

Airdrie RCMP want to thank concerned citizens for assisting them in locating the individuals and also for slowing down and letting police do their work while on the side of Highway 2.
