May 28th to June 3rd has been designated National Victims and Survivors of Crime Week.

One local organization is using the week to remind people that help is always available.

"I just hope that they realize that they're not alone in whatever they're facing," said Angela Wright, Executive Director of Airdrie and District Victims Assistance Society. "There are resources out there, there's listening ears there, there's people that are willing to help them."

With recent stats showing Domestic Violence cases on the rise in the City, this National Week could bring the issue further into the light. Wright and her team know first hand what it's like to handle these cases.

"It's definitely our biggest file...We speak to each victim that will answer our call and provide them with whatever resources they need."

Wright says those resources range from emergency shelters to financial and emotional care.
