If this year's cold harsh winter has you ready to pack up and move to a warmer climate, you can look forward to a small reprieve starting on Friday.

Dan Kulak, a meteorologist with Environment Canada said that we should be hovering around the zero mark for up to 5 days.

"I think the thing to look at here is that the cold weather we've had in the month of February looks like we're going to get a break. It might go into March, it might not but regardless March is around the corner and then when we do get into March weather it does, in general, tend to warm up significantly."

Kulak said that although the weather will start to warm up in March, we can still expect a couple more good snow falls before spring has officially sprung.

"The Prairies, in general, see more snowfall in March and even in April than they do in February on average. This past February here so far has been kind of a snowy month across parts of Southern Alberta, so maybe March will be a continuation of that trend."

Kulak also said that the weather can change rapidly and that spring is not quite here yet even though it might start to feel that way some days.
