30 students at Ecole Airdrie Middle School were given #StrazStong hats from a local mom in hopes they can continue to show their support.

The hats were created by Ryan's boxing coach Cody Thompson to raise money for Ryan and his family.

Local mom Katie Heaven purchased thirty of those hats to give to some of the students. The students were selected after they wrote letters of support to the Straschnitzki family.

Heaven says she wanted to give children the hats as a constant reminder of never giving up.

"I think children will see the significance in the hats and what they represent, there is still hope and you can continue to carry forward"

With today being Jerseys For Humboldt (April 12th) many of the kids were boasting their favourite team's jerseys while wearing the hats. The 30 children selected felt honoured to be given an opportunity to show their support for Ryan.

"Its kind of like a pay it forward, giving back to Ryans family," says Heaven, "but also to a child that may not have the opportunity to get a hat and so I thought its such a great opportunity to give them a hat where they can see that significant and potentially in the future instill that and pay it forward when they move on in life"

Heaven said that she has never seen a community much less a nation and world come together for something as they have this week.

"Every morning I wake up and I'm going through my news feed and to see people across the globe come together to support Ryan is absolutely fantastic."
