UPDATE:

After the first 24 hour extension, Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) have yet to come to an agreement.

With negotiations moving forward, both parties have agreed to an additional 24 hour extension that will expire Tuesday, August 30 at midnight.

The current collective agreement will continue to apply, with both parties hoping to resolve the current dispute.

Original Story:

A 24-hour extension has been added to the 72-hour strike notice that was issued on Thursday, August 25, by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW).

Both Canada Post and CUPW have been in negotiations all weekend with a special mediator in hopes of coming to a resolution.

It was at the mediators request that both parties agree to a 24-hour extension that will end at midnight on Monday, August 29.

If a new agreement is not in place by the end of the extension, postal workers will start their job action, which includes refusing to work any overtime.
