A horrific crash late this afternoon (Thursday) on Highway 2A near the intersection of Township Road 292 between Carstairs and Crossfield has left two people dead and sent another to hospital in serious condition.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 4:00 pm.  They say a car and a pick up truck collided causing significant damage to both.

An adult male and female who were in the car were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.  The male driver of the truck, believed to be in his 40's, was stabilized at the scene then transported to Foothills Hospital in Calgary by STARS air ambulance.  He suffered numerous internal and external injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

At this time, Didsbury RCMP say Highway 2A remains impassable due to the collision and investigation and is closed in both directions.  Motorists can use Highway 2 to bypass the scene.
