About 60 local hockey players are looking to make their final impressions this week at the Airdrie CFR Bisons Main Camp.

General Manager of the Bisons Dean McCaffrey says he’s been impressed with the camp so far.

“We had just under 60 kids at Rookie Camp that started on the weekend and we’re into Main Camp. The pace definitely picked up from Rookie Camp once we had our 17-year-olds and returning players show up, it’s been really good.”

The remaining players were filtered into four teams and have played many intrasquad games over the last few days.

“Basically [there's] four teams we’ve made for Main Camp, they’ve been playing intrasquad games through the week,” says McCaffrey, “We’ll play our last two games tonight. Then we’ll do some releases prior to doing our Red and White game on Sunday afternoon.”

As a general manager who has worked in the local hockey scene for many years, McCaffrey explains what he looks for the most with these players.

“The desire to want to play hard, compete. We’re looking for skilled guys, lots of speed, willing to work hard, willing to be coachable.”

The final two intrasquad teams will be named after tonight (Sept 6th) and will take part in the Ron Ebbesen memorial game this Sunday at 4:15 pm.
