The regular season preliminaries are over.  Tonight (March 22) the serious stuff begins for Western Hockey League teams.  

The 2019 playoffs get underway and for some Airdrie and local area players, the excitement begins.

Tonight Airdrie's Gary Haden and the Saskatoon Blades will be on home ice hosting the Moose Jaw Warriors.  Haden had an outstanding year, scoring 31 goals and adding 34 assists.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes also open at home against the Calgary Hitmen.  Balzac's Zachary Cox will be in the Lethbridge lineup after netting 11 goals and picking up four assists through the season.

The Tri-City Americans and Cochrane's Connor Bouchard open on the road with a game in Everett against the Silvertips.  Bouchard had 31 points this season, seven goals and 24 assists.

Tomorrow the Edmonton Oil Kings and Airdrie's Jake Neighbours begin their playoff run when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers.  Neighbours had an impressive rookie season with the Oil Kings, scoring 11 goals and adding 13 assists.
