For the first time this season in the Heritage Junior Hockey League the Airdrie Thunder are facing some adversity.

The Thunder, who breezed through the season with a 35 and 3 record then obliterated Blackfalds in their first playoff round are getting all they can handle from the Mountainview Colts.

After pounding the Colts 6 - 1 in the opening game, Mountainview has bounced back to take the next two games, including last night's (March 8) double-overtime thriller.

The Colt's Travis Gerrard forced extra time when he scored with nine minutes to play in the third, then connected on the winner 1:22 into the second overtime frame to give the Colts a 3 - 2 win and a shocking 2 - 1 lead in the best of seven series.  It's the first time this year that Airdrie has lost back to back games.

Even more amazing is the fact the Colts killed off a full two minute, two-man disadvantage in overtime.

Airdrie won't have a lot of time to regroup as game four in the series goes tonight, 8:00 pm in the Didsbury Rec Complex.

Game three in the South Final also goes tonight when the Cochrane Generals travel to Coaldale to face the Copperheads.  The Generals trail that series two games to none.

Game four goes back in Cochrane tomorrow afternoon starting at 5:30 pm in the Cochrane Arena.
