The Airdrie Thunder are getting set to go in the second round of the Heritage Junior Hockey League playoffs.

The Thunder will face the Blackfalds Wranglers in a best of five series beginning Wednesday night at 7:30 pm at the Ron Ebbesen Arena in Airdrie.

The Wranglers knocked off the Ponoka Stampeders in two straight in the opening round while the Thunder had a bye after finishing second in the Northern Division.

The second game also goes in Airdrie Friday night with game three in Blackfalds Sunday afternoon.

Two other first-round series finished last night. 

After demolishing Medicine Hat 17 - 0 in their first game, the Cochrane Generals had to go the three game distance and down the Cubs 6 - 4 last night.  Cochrane will now face Okotoks in the next round.

The Mountainview Colts from Didsbury came back from being down one game to none to eliminate Stettler in three games.  The clincher came last night with a 6 - 4 Colts win.

Mountainview now has to face the first place Red Deer Vipers.

No dates for the Cochrane - Okotoks, Mountainview - Red Deer series have been posted on the league website.
