Team Alberta Special Olympics athletes are back home and basking in the glow of a very successful Canada Summer Games in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.  

The plane carrying 74 members of the team landed last evening (August 5) at Calgary International.  Among the athletes touching down were several local competitors including Allie Price and Kristina Hansen of Airdrie, Paul Oldridge of Cochrane, Ian and Angela Lowther from Crossfield and Sarah Schmick of Carstairs and all of them turned in outstanding performances.

Golfer Price claimed third place in ladies golf and Oldridge tied for first in the men's event.  

Hansen and her basketball teammates claimed the silver medal.

Ian Lowther was busy in the pool, taking first, second, third, fifth and sixth in his six events.

Angela Lowther also swam six events, taking four first-place finishes along with claiming two fifth spots.

In her six events, Schmick claimed three second-place finishes, along with two thirds and one fifth.

Along with the medal, the local athletes bring back with them enough memories to last a lifetime.
