The Calgary Stampede Rodeo has wrapped up for another year and the final performance didn’t disappoint.

Two local cowboys were ready to put their best foot forward on Showdown Sunday with Airdrie’s Jake Vold in Bareback Riding and Carstairs’ Kyle Lucas in Tie-Down Roping.

Vold ran to the top of the board in performance 10 with a score of 88.50, which tied him with Richie Champion.

In the final four performance, Vold rode to an impressive 92.00 but it wasn’t enough as Champion took the title with a 92.50.

Lucas finished second in his first run on Sunday with a time of 7.7 seconds but fell to fourth in the final round after recording a no time.

The Rodeo schedule continues this weekend (July 19-22) with the Morris Stampede, The Moose Mountain Pro Rodeo and the K-Days Rodeo in Edmonton.
