Just before the NHL's All-Star break, Airdrie's Ty Rattie was placed on waivers by the Edmonton Oilers.

No other team claimed the 26-year-old, who celebrated his birthday yesterday (February 5) so he remains with the Oilers and has played in all three of their games since they returned to action following the All-Star game.

Edmonton has dropped all three of those games and has now dropped to 12th in the Western Conference, tied with Arizona and Chicago with 51 points.  Their record is 23-25 and 5.

The Oil's latest setback came last night when the Black Hawks scored five third period goals and beat Edmonton 6 - 2.  In that game, Rattie was a minus one and had three shots on goal in the 14:40 that he saw the ice.

Rattie collected his third goal of the season during a 5 - 4 overtime loss to the Philadelphia Flyers.  He has a total of 9 points in 32 games with the Oilers.

Edmonton's other loss came on Sunday afternoon when they fell 4 - 3 in extra time to the Montreal Canadiens.  Rattie fired four of the 24 shots the Oilers had at Montreal goaltender Carey Price that night.

Edmonton is back in action tomorrow night when they travel to Minnesota to face the Wild.
