Last night (June 20th), the best of the best of the Airdrie Raiders Football team were honoured at their annual year-end awards banquet.

The Raiders ended their season in the Calgary Spring football Association with a loss to the Rebels in the Division 3 Championship game but they still had many outstanding moments and performers from the season.

Reid Jensen was named MVP for the season while other awards were given to Zach Thiessen, Gavin Armstrong, Keegan Henderson and Connor Enns.

Jensen says the MVP award was one he's been chasing for some time.

"It's something I've been fighting for three years and this is the best team I've played for. It's a big thing to be told you're the Most Valuable Player on the team."

For Head Coach Steve Kemp, the road to next season begins now as he looks forward to working with the next batch of Raiders stars.

"We had one of the best linebacking cores in the league and they'll be back for their third year. Offensively we have a nice group of kids ready to transition into full time starting positions. It's fun, you got to retool everything and find out what they do well and what they don't do well and build your system around that."
