It was a great showing at the recent Provincial Swim Championships in Calgary for members of the Nose Creek Swim Association (NCSA).

The club sent its largest contingent in history to the meet with 36 swimmers vying for provincial titles.  A lot was a stake at the meet, not the least of which was the chance to achieve the Swim Alberta Championships time standard and access the championship meet which takes place March 14th to the 17th.  Four members of the NCSA did just that and will now swim in the Swim Alberta Spring Championship in Edmonton.

13-year-old Hailey Hughes, 13-year-old Caitlin Merchant, 13-year-old Adam Fedorko, and 12-year-old Daniel Froese will now join other NCSA swimmers who previously qualified for the meet.

Those same four also won gold medals at the provincial meet. with some coming away with multiple championships.  Merchant won three gold medals, in the 50 freestyle, the girls 14U medley relay, and the girls open freestyle relay.

Hughes was a double gold-medallist, winning in the 50 breaststroke and combining with Merchant in the medley relay.  Fedorko's gold came in the 200 backstroke, while Froese won in the 50 backstroke.

Paige Streeter was the other NCSA member claiming gold in the girls open medley relay.  Hughes, Merchant, and Streeter also claimed silver medals while Streeter, Fedorko and Froese picked up bronze medals, two of them for Froese.  Marcus Hollingsworth of NCSA also won bronze.

Other club members showed promising results for future meets.

The success at the provincials is something that NCSA hope will propel them forward into this weekend's United Cycle Invitational in Sherwood Park.  More than 70 club members will attend the meet which runs today through Sunday.
