Airdrie's Jake Neighbours notched his third assist of the post-season last night (March 29) as the Edmonton Oil Kings edged the Medicine Hat Tigers 5 - 4 in Edmonton in the fifth game of their first-round Western Hockey League playoff series.

Neighbours assisted on Andrew Fyten's goal five minutes into the first period which gave the Oil Kings a lead of 2 - 1.  Edmonton scored just 16 seconds into the game before Medicine Hat tied things up at the 39-second mark.  By the end of the first period, the Oil Kings were up 4 - 1 and then hung on for the win.

With the victory, Edmonton takes a 3 - 2 lead in the series as the teams head back to Medicine Hat for game six tomorrow night.

Two other area players are in action in the WHL playoffs tonight.

Balzac's Zachary Cox and the Lethbridge Hurricanes will host the Calgary Hitmen tonight in game five of the series which is now deadlocked at two games each.

And Connor Bouchard of Cochrane with the Tri-City Americans will attempt to stave off elimination when they travel to Everett tonight for a game against the Silvertips.

Everett holds a 3 - 1 lead in the series.
