The Ed Eggerer Field in Airdrie was roaring as the George McDougall Mustangs and the W.H. Croxford Cavaliers started the High School Football season last night (August 30th).

The first half saw a tight defensive battle between the teams with George Mac leading by less than ten points.

It wasn't until the fourth quarter that both teams started to come out in full force.

Rhett Mitschke had two touchdowns for the Mustangs while Cooper Van Iderstine had 3 sacks to help the Mustangs secure a 30-16 win.

The Cavaliers' Keegan Henderson was solid at quarterback, including a long bomb TD to receiver Keeghan Proudlock late in the fourth.

George McDougall heads on the road to take on Bow Valley on September 7th while Croxford takes on Bert Church High School in another battle of Airdrie on September 6th.
