The George McDougall Mustangs just keep on winning and the people at Football Alberta are taking note.

In the latest rankings of high school football teams in the province, the Mustangs have cracked the top ten with their third consecutive win on Friday when they defeated Chestermere 28 - 14.

The Mustangs are now ranked eighth among Tier Two schools with a population between 750 and 1,249.

The Springbank Phoenix are right behind the Mustangs in the rankings after their win over Bow Valley.

When it comes to highly ranked teams though, it's hard to beat the Cochrane Cobras.  They are ranked number one in the province among Tier Three schools and have the winning record to warrant it.

The Cobras tied a mark that many thought would never be broken with their win on Saturday over the Bert Church Chargers from Airdrie.  It was Cochrane's 39th consecutive win which ties a record held by Raymond High School.  Raymond didn't lose a game between the start of the 1997 season to when they were beaten in the Tier One Provincial Final in 1999.

The Cobras remarkable run began with their last loss on October 25th, 2014 to George McDougall.  Since then they've proved to be a powerhouse and have won four Tier Three Provincial Championships in a row.

The Cobras will go for a brand new record of 40 straight wins this Saturday when they face the Lakers in Chestermere.
