They say hockey will take you places and it will take Ty Mueller north in 2019-2020.

The Sherwood Park Crusaders of the Alberta Junior Hockey League have announced the 16-year-old Airdrie native has just signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to play with the team next season.

Mueller just wrapped up an outstanding first season of Midget-level hockey by scoring 10 goals and adding 24 assists in 34 games with the Airdrie CFR Bisons of the Alberta Midget Hockey League.

At the Airdrie Cochrane Athletic Association awards banquet held earlier this month, Mueller walked away with a ton of hardware.  He picked up the Most Valuable Player award and Top Defensive Forward.  He then shared the Rookie of the Year and Top Scorer awards with Tristan Zandee.

The Crusaders LOI isn't the only document Mueller has put his name on recently.  In March he committed to the University of Omaha-Nebraska Mavericks, an NCAA-Division One team, for the 2022-2023 season.

Sherwood Park GM Kyle Chase said of the signing, "Ty is a skilled centerman who was a point a game player as a 15-year-old in the AMHL.  We are extremely excited to sign (Mueller) to an LOI.  We would like to welcome Ty to the Crusader family."
