All of the turkey leftovers have been consumed in soups and sandwiches so it must be time to get back to hockey.  

The Heritage Junior Hockey League dropped the puck on the second half of it's season with a Wednesday night game in Ponoka between the Stampeders and the Mountainview Colts.

The Colts, who hold down third place in the Northern Division of the league improved to 16 - 10 and 1 on the season after disposing of Ponoka by a 6 - 1 score.

The Stampeders are second last in the North with a record of 7 - 16 and 2.

The Airdrie Thunder begin post-Christmas play tomorrow night when they host the Blackfalds Wranglers at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.  The game starts at 8:00 pm.

On Sunday afternoon, Airdrie hockey fans are in for a treat as five members of the Thunder will be involved in the HJHL All-Star Game in Airdrie.

Goaltender Ryan Simpson, defencemen Jason Wenzel and Kirkland Spencer and forwards Jordan McConnell and Rylan Plante-Crough will suit up for the game and coach Derek Stamp and his staff will run the show for the Northern Division all-stars.

The game gets underway at 1:30 pm in the Ron Ebbesen Arena.
