There's a new scoring king in the Heritage Junior Hockey League and his name is Jordan McConnell.

McConnell continued his remarkable season last night (February 1) by obliterating the old league scoring mark of 121 points set in the 2005 - 2006 season by Airdrie's Brad Rossiter.

McConnell picked up four goals and six assists, giving him 125 points on the season as the Thunder once again destroyed the Three Hills Thrashers 22 - 2.  The Airdrie forward also scored his 50th goal of the year and adds 75 assists to that total for 125 points overall.

His linemate Rylan Plante-Crough also lit the lamp four times last night to make it 50 goals on the year for him as well.

McConnell, for his part, couldn't have predicted his impressive point total this year.  "I had a good first weekend.  It was a hot start but I didn't think I'd be able to keep that pace."

Thunder Head Coach Derek Stamp is also astounded by the point totals of the McConnell - Plante-Crough pair.  "They're both really impressive.  To put up that number of points in a season is incredible and to do it game after game without missing a beat shows what a special player Jordan is."

Airdrie has locked up home ice advantage through the HJHL playoffs and are now 33 and 3 for the year.  Last night was their final regular season home game.  They put the wraps on the season with a pair of road encounters next weekend, Friday in Okotoks and Saturday in Stettler.

In other HJHL action last night, the Cochrane Generals saw their 12 game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the Coaldale Copperheads who handed the Gens a 5 - 4 setback.

The Mountainview Colts picked up an impressive 4 - 3 victory over the Red Deer Vipers.  Tonight the Colts play host to the Lomond Lakers in their annual charity game for the Rural Motorcycle Ride for Dad - Fighting Prostate Cancer.

Fans can make donations to the cause at the game which gets underway at 8:00 pm in the Didsbury Rec Complex.

In ten years the Colts have raised close to $200,000 for the battle against prostate cancer.
