Jordan McConnell just keeps racking up the points in the Heritage Junior Hockey League this season.

McConnell has an amazing 28 points, 13 goals, and 15 assists, in just six games this season, giving him 4.7 points per game on average.

He rang up six more points last night (October 4) scoring a pair of goals and adding four assists to lead the Airdrie Thunder to a 12 - 4 win over the Cochrane Generals at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.

Despite McConnell's impressive total, it was actually quite a balanced attack for Airdrie last night as their 12 goals came off the sticks of nine different players.  It was also balanced through the game as the Thunder scored four goals in each of the three periods.

Rylan Plante-Crough is also having a tremendous season for the Thunder and added to it last night by scoring two goals.  Cooper Page also had a pair with singles coming from Dane Bennett-Nimijean, Zachary Dubois, Tristan Paquette, Michael Wojciechowski, Jason Wenzel, and Jackson Gibson, who scored shorthanded.

Airdrie outshot Cochrane 47 - 38 and improved to 6 and 0 on the season.  Cochrane falls to 0 and 2.

It was the only game of the weekend for Airdrie but next weekend is a different story with three games on the schedule.  They'll face the defending HJHL champion Red Deer Vipers at home on Friday then have a pair of road games, Saturday in Medicine Hat and Sunday in Blackfalds.

With only two games under their belts, the Generals will play catchup this weekend with two more games.  Tonight they host the Stettler Lightning at 7:00 in the Cochrane Arena.  Tomorrow they're off to Coaldale to play the Copperheads.

The Mountainview Colts had to work extra time in their game in Didsbury with the Ponoka Stampeders.  The Colts prevailed 6 - 5 in OT.

Tonight Mountainview heads south to Claresholm for a game against the expansion Lomond Lakers.
