Two players from the local area helped Team Alberta to the bronze medal in Men's Hockey last night (February 23) at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.

Team Alberta absolutely crushed Saskatchewan 12 - 0 in the final last night.  In their first game of the round robin, Saskatchewan had beaten Alberta 4 - 3 in overtime but this one turned out to be no contest.

Former Airdrie Xtreme and now Edge School teammates Craig Armstrong and Keagan Slaney were a big part of Alberta's success.  Last night Armstrong had two goals and a pair of assists.  He finished the competition with five goals.

Slaney also had an assist in last night's bronze medal victory.

The gold medal game turned out to be a thriller.  Quebec got a goal 9:21 into overtime to pull out a 4 - 3 win over Ontario.

Competition in week one wrapped up yesterday.  Week two of the games start tomorrow.
