Team Alberta is showing fans at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games that wrap up later today (August 4) in Antigonish, Nova Scotia that hard work and perseverance can pay off.

By the end of the day on Friday, Alberta competitors had collected 67 medals at the games.

In golf, Allie Price of Airdrie placed third in the F2 Division, finishing her third round with a 67.  Paul Oldridge from Cochrane shot his best round for the week yesterday, carding 58 and finishing in a first-place tie.

Kristina Hansen of Airdrie and the rest of her Alberta basketball teammates won both of their games yesterday, beating Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Arnprior, Ontario.

In the pool, swimmers from Crossfield and Carstairs performed well.  Ian Lowther from Crossfield placed second in the M2 100 metre backstroke.  Angela Lowther had a pair of first-place finishes in the F3 200 metre breaststroke and in the F6 50 metre breaststroke.

Carstairs swimmer Sarah Schmick placed second in the F3 200 metre backstroke and the F1 100 metre butterfly.  She came third in the F4 25 metre butterfly.
