It was not a great weekend for the Airdrie Female Elite AA Lightning after dropping both their weekend games.
Last Friday (February 9th), the Lightning had a tough game against the Calgary Fire-Red and were eventually shut out 2-0. Lightning goalie Kayla Savoie-Penton made 23 saves in that loss.
The girls were hoping for a better result on Saturday as they travelled to St. Albert to take on the Sharks.
Emma Dixon had the lone goal for the Lightning as they lost in a close 3-1 game to St. Albert.
Despite the weekend losses, the Lightning still hold second place in the AFHL Elite South Division with 40 points, just 3 back of the Calgary Fire-Red for top spot.
The team will look for redemption on Friday, February 16th when they play the Red Deer Chiefs.
