With 50 wins, its been a pretty good season for the Airdrie Thunder.

They'll need 51 wins to kick it up a notch and remember the 2018-19 campaign as a great one.  The Thunder will square off this afternoon at 2:00 pm with the defending provincial champion Wainwright Bisons for the Provincial Junior "B" Hockey Championship in Wetaskiwin.

Both teams went through the tourney with perfect 4 and 0 records.  The Thunder wrapped up the round-robin portion of the tournament yesterday afternoon by beating the Calgary Royals Gold 7 - 4.

In the semi-finals, played last night, Airdrie pounded the host Wetaskiwin Icemen 8 - 0.  Rylan Plante-Crough scored four times to lead the Thunder to the win.  Jackson Little stopped 26 shots in goal to get the shutout.

You have to know that today's final will be a different story from the semis.  The defending champion Bisons were 29 and 3 during the regular season and went 12 and 1 in the playoffs before winning all four games they played at the provincial tournament.

"They are the defending champs and they will be a great test for us," said Thunder Head Coach Derek Stamp.  "But, like we have been all season, we're confident in our game."
