Last night our local HJHL teams battled it out for supremacy in the first round of the semi-finals.

Here at home, the Airdrie Thunder showed us exactly why they finished the regular season in first after defeating the Mountainview Colts 6-1 in game one of the Northern Final.

The Thunder scored all six goals within twelve minutes of the first period with six different scorers.

Jason Wenzel, Tristan Paquette, Brett Campbell, Jordan McConnell, Brett LeGranduer and Tyler Petrie all scored for the Thunder with Rylan Plante-Crough assisting on three of the six goals.

The Thunder and Colts will meet again tonight in Didsbury for a game that goes at 8:00 p.m at the Recreation Complex.

In the Southern Final, The Cochrane Generals fell to the Coaldale Copperheads last night 5-2.  The Snakes take a one game to none lead in that series.  The two teams will meet for game two of the series tomorrow night in Cochrane.
