A former member of the AC Avalanche Midget "AAA" and Airdrie Lightning Midget "AA" teams is now playing Junior hockey in the United States and people are taking notice.

Nick Noel is having a strong season with the Helena (Montana) Bighorns, one of the teams in the North American 3 Hockey League (NH3HL), one of two USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III leagues.  The NA3HL is described on its website as "one of the top training grounds in the country....providing the best coaching, exposure and developmental vehicles available for student-athletes in its classification."

in 34 games with the Bighorns, Noel, a centre, has scored 14 goals and added 16 assists for 30 points and has helped them to a 28-6 and 2 record, good for second place in the Frontier Division of the league.

Now, he's been named to the NA3HL Frontier Division team that will take part in a top prospects tournament scheduled for February 18th and 19th in Boston, Massachusetts.

According to his parents, David and Janice Noel, Nick has also been garnering interest from some top U.S. college teams.  The latest to show their interest has been the Division One Arizona State Sun Devils.
