Three Cochrane football coaches will be honoured by Football Alberta this weekend as Alberta high school football coaches of the year for 2016.

As part of the Football Alberta Senior Bowl and Bantam Bowl that will be played on the long weekend in Calgary and Edmonton, Football Alberta will present their Coach, Official and Volunteer awards for 2016 at the banquets on Sunday night.

Darryl Korody and Cam Cote of the Bow Valley Bobcats will be honoured as the co-winners of the Tier IV High School Coach of the Year.  Korody and Cote and the Bobcats flew under the radar for most of the year before scoring victories over higher ranked opposition to make it to their first Provincial Tier IV appearance since 2002, where they defeated the Stettler Wildcats 22 - 13 to win the title.

Jim Forrest with the Cochrane Cobras is to be honoured as the High School Tier III Coach of the Year.  Forrest has been an assistant with the Cobras since 1999 and has been a big part of the ten Provincial Tier III Championships the Cobras have won.  Forrest's specialty is coaching linemen and he's developed ten who went on the play University football and two who have advanced to the professional ranks in the CFL.

The three Cochranites will be honoured at the Calgary banquet.
