It was a battle of two undefeated teams in the Rocky View High School Football League yesterday (September 29) but in the end it turned into another win for the powerful Cochrane Cobras.

The Cobras and the George McDougall Mustangs both went into the contest with 3 and 0 records.  The Cobras came out of it 4 and 0 on the year and also tallied their Alberta high school football record 41st consecutive win by pounding the 'Stangs 49 - 2.

Dylan Neis had five touchdowns to lead the Cobras offense.  Mustangs Coach Chris Glass says the Airdrie defense was in awe of the Cochrane star, but they really shouldn't have been.

"Dylan's a great player.  When we watch a great player play football, that's what happens.  Our secondary needs to improve on being part of the play.  They were in the right spots, they just weren't making the plays they needed to make to make the tackle.  You can't leave a kid like that alone the way we did today, he's too talented."

The Mustangs' only points came on a safety late in the fourth quarter.

Glass says he felt the lopsided score was a bit misleading.  "We actually played pretty tough and we played good football.  The problem is, we got caught watching on a couple of plays and Cochrane's so good at turning your mistakes into touchdowns and that's exactly what they did today.  They're a good team and we look forward to playing them again and giving them a much better fight next time."

The Mustangs will be seeking redemption against the Springbank Phoenix on Thursday in Springbank.  Cochrane doesn't play again until Saturday, October 13th when they're in Airdrie again to face the W.H. Croxford Cavaliers.
